GREEN SHACK Bio:
In December of 2004, Seth Gaines, Matt Eberle, and Griggs Hutaff began playing music in a green shack behind Seth's house. The early months consisted of reworked piece's that Griggs and Matt had written while solo. Seth's jazz influenced rhythm blended well with Matt and Griggs' acoustic-based songwriting. The first official performance occurred at a dear friends birthday party. Playing with two acoustic guitars and hand-drums, the trio entertained a hundred beer drinking college students. The addiction of live performance bit hard and it wasn't long before a forth member was desperately needed. Finding a bassist with the steady rhythmic sound Green Shack needed was not going to be an easy task. Having no luck asking around they posted flyers around UNCW campus. The first and only person to reply to the flyers was Aaron Hansen. From the first time he walked into the shack he fit right in. With great playing ability and a greater attitude towards music Aaron made the band complete. Beginning in February of 2005 the band began daily practice sessions. The first Green Shack performance took place in March during an open mic night at Lucky's Pub. With only 4 rehearsed songs the set carried on for fifty minutes, consisting of impromptu one offs and lengthened jams. With the original fan base formed that night Green Shack was asked back to Luckys on April 14th for its first paying gig. Since then Green Shack has performed at Kefi, The Firehouse, The Sandbar, The Blue Monkey, Charley Brownz, the Hawk's Nest and Hugh McCray Park. Its been a year or so that the band has been together and it has been a whirlwind of late night gigs, early morning school and work, hot days practicing in the shack, cold beer, bad equipment, great friends, getting screwed over by other bands (you know who you are). But through it all a brotherhood has been formed among four lovers of music. Although the band was easily formed it will be very difficult to break. The soul of Green Shack is the combined ambition of a group of musicians who will do anything to reach their goals and the goal is simple: Good music and Good times. |
