Douglas Kay
Douglas Kay Bio:

Douglas Kay started playing acoustic gigs around Edinburgh in 1995 and has honed his skills in the coffee houses and bars of Australia, New Zealand, North America, South Africa and Europe. His extended travels have given him a wide range of influences and experiences which inform his writing and have bolstered his performance skills.

His debut album, Of All The Towns To Sleep In, sees Kay marrying digital recording programmes to the analogue mindset which informs his song writing; the fruit of the union is an organic set of songs born of singer-songwriter craft and swaddled in an uplifting collection of sounds. From the loop-driven opener Moving Target to the melancholy guitar and vocal closer Year, the album represents a clear step forward in Kay's musical journey.

Songs from the album have seen Kay receive considerable radio airplay, firstly on BBC Radio Scotland, and then on London station Xfm (where Moving Target won the listener vote after featuring on the show X-Posure) and Australia's Central FM. The album also led to Kay's first Australian TV appearance in Spring 2004. Back home to the UK since summer 2004, Douglas's set at Acoustic Edinburgh in July 2004 was the first as the Douglas Kay Band with newly recruited bassist Alex Hunter and drummer Fraser Murray. The three have been in rehearsal since Douglas came back to Scotland and opted to make their live debut as a three-piece at the monthly music night in Medina.
