His heavy rhythms and big grooves reeled me in. When I wrote blues tunes, they always seemed to have a hint of pop, more so in the chorus. I also wondered why blues music couldn't lean on a chorus big enough to hang you hat on without taking it out of its element.
This song speaks about how drugs and other addictions have taken down so many great people. The song calls on a faith thats strong enough to keep our lives on the rails. I had SRV in mind when I wrote this. Such a major tragedy. Stevie Ray finally frees himself from drugs and alcohol, to be so quickly taken from us by a tragic accident.
